Clarinex – Antihistamine Allergy Relief Treatment
Clarinex (desloratadine) is an antihistamine prescription medication which is used to treat patients who are suffering from chronic allergies, seasonal allergies, hay fever and allergic reactions such as hives.

Difference between Clarinex and Allegra:
Both of these drugs work as an antihistamine and lessen the duration and the symptoms associated with seasonal allergies and allergic reactions. However, Clarinex has fewer drug interactions and side effects than Allegra.
How to Take Clarinex:
Only take this drug exactly as directed to by your doctor. Typically you will take one pill with a glass of water, one time per day or as directed. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If you are near the time you would take your next dose, skip the missed dose and keep taking your scheduled doses.
How Does Clarinex Work?
This drug is an antihistamine. It works to block the histamines that the body releases to counter allergic reactions, and reduces the associated symptoms and their duration.
Side Effects of Clarinex Include:
There are some potential side effects that can occur when using this drug to treat your allergies, they include:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
- Dry throat
- Mild upset stomach
- Mild headache
- Muscle aches
- In rare cases, a serious allergic reaction can occur which may involve difficulty breathing, irregular or fast heartbeats, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, or tongue, or closing of the throat. If you experience any of these rare, yet serious side effects—STOP using Clarinex and seek emergency medical treatment
Clarinex Precautions:
You always want to make sure that you let your physician know about any and EVERY drug that you are currently taking in order to avoid any interactions or reactions. There are some people who may not be able to take Clarinex including: those who suffer from liver disease or kidney disease; and anyone who is allergic to antihistamines. This drug can cause drowsiness or dizziness, be careful when operating machinery or vehicles until you know how you will react to it. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages, as they can amplify the effects of this drug.
