Famvir (famciclovir) is a powerful antiviral medication which is used to treat patients who suffer from the herpes simplex virus or shingles. When taken properly it has been shown to be effective at both preventing and lessening the duration of the symptoms.

Tell your doctor about ANY and ALL drugs that you are currently taking as well as any known drug allergies to avoid any dangerous reactions or drug interactions from occurring when taking this drug. Women who are pregnant or nursing should tell their doctor before taking this drug as it can be secreted in the breast milk. People who currently suffer from kidney disease may not be able to take this drug. Taking this drug does not prevent you from spreading the herpes virus to others.
